SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT/CALL FOR ONLINE PARTICIPATION
The Centre for Atmospheric Research (CAR) hereby announces the Annual Professor Ekundayo E. Balogun National Symposium on Atmospheric Research. This one-day symposium scheduled to hold on the 83rd birthday anniversary of Emeritus Professor Ekundayo E. Balogun, shall feature presentation on his life and contributions to atmospheric research in Nigeria and beyond.
The symposium for this year will be hosted online by CAR due to the prevailing circumstance of COVID-19 and required national guidelines for public gatherings. For us at CAR, we see this as a rare opportunity to explore new experiences and widen our networking scope by reaching out to researcher at the confines of their homes/offices.
Invited talks will be given on the importance of atmospheric research in a time of unusual pandemic like COVID-19, the contributions of space research in understanding how atmospheric pollution has changed due to the pandemic, the effect of air pollution on mortality rate globally and specifically in Africa, as well as new and emerging research opportunities in post-pandemic life.
Submissions are welcomed from all areas of Atmospheric Research and related studies. Applicants are encouraged to prepare the abstract of their work (in MS word template and should not more than 350 words with 1.5 spacing) for consideration. Authors of selected abstracts will be requested to prepare electronic posters/presentation which will be hosted on CAR-NASRDA websites for viewing 2 days prior to the date of the symposium. Some papers shall be scheduled for oral presentation. During the symposium, time will be allotted for questions, comments and responses from participants and authors as appropriate.
Registration, application and submission of abstract shall be closed by 10 pm local time on Friday 17 July 2020
Participating in the symposium is free but it is mandatory to apply for consideration and receive confirmation that you have been registered with unique login details.

Full manuscripts of posters or presentations submitted by authors not later than six weeks after the symposium will be considered for possible publication in the Monograph of Atmospheric Research after a double-blinded peer review.
Issuance of Certificate
Participants who made presentation and satisfactorily engaged in the symposium will be issued certificates acknowledging their participation.
