The NASRDA Centre for Atmospheric Research (CAR) is a world class research and development center of NASRDA headed by Professor Babatunde Rabiu, the centre is committed to research and capacity building in the atmospheric and related sciences. CAR is dedicated to understand the atmosphere, the air around us and the interconnected processes that make up the Earth system, from the ocean floor through the ionosphere to the Sun's core. The NASRDA Centre for Atmospheric Research provides research, facilities, and services for the atmospheric and Earth sciences community.
Some of the centre’s project and unit include the following: -
The dearth of quality research data generated from Nigerian terrain for research purposes prompted the establishment of AMEN. The project has successfully deployed an Automatic Weather Monitoring Stations to characterize Nigeria on a country wide scale.
TRODAN is an acronym initiated recently to reflect all the Lower Atmospheric Research facilities/projects at the Centre for Atmospheric Research, Anyigba. TRODAN is comprise the following: -
- Atmospheric Monitoring Equipment Network (AMEN)
- Microwave Propagation Project (MPP) and
- Micro Rain-Radar Projects (MRRP)
These facilities are networks established to provide our own terrain real-time research data to the scientific communities in Nigeria and at a global scale.
ACER is a unit as well as a project under the technical division of the Centre for Atmospheric Research (CAR) Anyigba. The unit is saddled with the responsibilities of providing atmospheric data/products and other relevant research information in Atmospheric Chemistry and Environmental Research to users for the purpose of Research, Capacity building and socio-economic development of the center and the nation at large.
The Space Research Initiative Unit (SRI)
The Space Research Initiative Unit is one of the unit in technical division of the Centre.
