The Space Research Initiative Unit is one of the unit in technical division of the Centre.
The mandate of this Unit is to coordinate research in human space technology with specific focus on:
- Medical geography (study of the effects of locale and climate upon health)
- Magneto-biology ( study of biological effects of mainly weak static and low-frequency magnetic fields, which do not cause heating of tissues)
- Space experiment as it affects agriculture, medicine and vaccine development etc,
- Space debris (man-made material in orbit that no longer serves useful purpose).
The unit is working with the scientists and engineers from the other units and projects in the centre, space agency and collaborators from across the globe.
